I have the honor to report
to you many cohorts
of the military-industrial-entertainment complex
we have succeeded
first in cloning the actor
then in automating him
what is required now however is
removal
however short and sweet
of the desire to see an actor howsoever
and then we're all finished

Goliath (the wit of the Philistines)

his god tells him all things
he knows

his is the kingdom of light
in the upper reaches

the fault still lies with
his adversaries

he would have an Israelite
to his bitch

Erika Kelley, pseudonym Sage, was born in Brooklyn, New York. She grew up in Southern New Jersey, earning her bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, and master’s degree in Public Administration from Rutgers Graduate School. Erika is a poet, freelance writer, and editor. Her poetry is a memoir of her journey from pubescence to womanhood, typically exerting her understanding and appreciation of life. The New Jersey Poetry Society selected two of her poems, "Nature's Musing" and "My Sweet Revival," for inclusion in its 2008 Anthology, The Quiet Side and "Mother of the Sea," as a winning poem for its 2007-2008 poetry contest. Erika is a Program Officer at the New Jersey Department of Education. She resides in Barrington, New Jersey with her husband and toddler twin boys.

Daydreaming

Jumping on a trampoline
I am elevated off the ground
eye level with the seagulls,
entangled between kite strings.

I touched the sun and scorched my hand;
I cooled it on a puffy cumulous cloud.
Admiring the muted soft colors in the sky,
gravity is not my concern.
