Bio (auto)

My work has appeared for more than 40 years in the US and Canada; more recently in Britain and Australia. I was born in St. Louis, but lived mainly in the Pacific Northwest. My schooling includes a Phd. I now live in the picturesque coastal and border town of Blaine, several hundred feet from Canada.

In The Air

Mozart, unlike any sound, any name.
Unerring equivalence.
Take it to any bank.

Then back he comes, new and rich,
with friendly sounds completely in accord,
with none of those jealousies
famous among woodwinds.

Funny that so many sounds fit,
so many fitting sounds, that place
doesn't enter into them; like an intruder
at the door, place comes with hard knuckles
banging; there is no need, here,
in the air, with Mozart.

party girl dance

party girl dance
across the pacific
eyes and lips so fresh and heavy
only one way to make a living
running backwards
through the boneyard.

sitting with me
going nowhere
momentary heat connection
somewhat real and
somewhat fake
intersecting intersections
flashing lights in
frozen lake.

party girl
needs a husband
party boy
needs to last
both of us are underwater
both of us are
fading fast.
