We Were So Powerful

We took off our jumpers
in the dark
as fast as we could
to watch sparks
light up the room,
the entire street.

absentee encounter

I boarded the train
in hopes of finding
something tonight in
the heart of our city as I walked off
without a trace of
a familiar face
I listened as a
potential memory
crumbled under
my soles like
spilled potato chips
on the platform.
